Wizard Lab Assistants are Lab Assistant variants that appear in Crash Bandicoot: Warped, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex and the N. Sane Trilogy remake of Warped.

Overview[]

Crash Bandicoot: Warped[]

In Warped, Wizard Lab Assistants appear in Toad Village, Gee Wiz and Double Header. They attack by shooting magic projectiles at Crash. If Crash gets hit, he will turn into a frog. They wear indigo robes with yellow stars and carry large wooden staves.

In the PAL version of Warped, the Wizard Lab Assistant takes two hits to defeat instead of one. The first hit destroys their wizard costume, leaving them in their underwear, while the second hit completely defeats them. Their costumes can be destroyed in the NTSC version with the Fruit Bazooka and they only take one hit to be defeated. When they laugh, their beard is below their chin, implying that they wear a fake beard.

Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex[]

Wizard Lab Assistants reappear in The Wrath of Cortex, behaving much the same as they did in Warped. They attack by shooting magic projectiles at Crash, this time turning him into a bat if they hit him. Here they wear darker blue robes and can be defeated in one hit in all versions of the game.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy[]

Wizard Lab Assistants reprise their role in the N. Sane Trilogy remake of Warped. In the N. Sane Trilogy, wizards are defeated in only one hit and drop their hat and staff. These items are physics objects and can be kicked around, killing other enemies on contact.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled[]

Wizard Lab Assistants have a minor cameo in Nitro-Fueled. They appear throughout Cortex Castle, locked in cages in their underwear and pointing the way forward. They can be recognized as Wizard Lab Assistants by their long white beards and staffs. The fact that they appear in their underwear is likely a reference to their damaged state in the original PAL version of Warped.
