The Super Engine is an item used for speeding up karts during battles in Crash Team Racing, Crash Nitro Kart, and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. While active, the kart will have a constant turbo boost for as long as the player is accelerating, until the usage time runs out. The super engine's juiced up version lasts longer. In CNK, the icon's image had changed.
Unlike the Turbo, this power-up does not have the capability to squash other drivers whilst active. This is not the case in CTR Nitro-Fueled, however.
The Super Engine became usable in races in Nitro-Fueled during the final weekend of the Back N. Time Grand Prix. The item replaced most Invincibility Masks during online races, if the player is below first place.
