The Slide attack is one of Crash's moves. To perform it, the player must run and then press the duck button. Crash will slide across the ground. This ability was introduced in Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back. In Crash Twinsanity, it is called the Knee Slide.
The slide attack can be used to defeat enemies holding shields or with guarded necklines. It can also be used to break crates that are underneath a TNT Crate or Nitro Crate. If Crash jumps in the middle of a slide he will perform a Slide Jump. This move can be used to gain speed and to jump higher. If Crash spins in the middle of a slide, he will perform a Slide Spin.
The slide attack's power-up is the Super Slide, which only features in N-Tranced. This power-up makes the slide much longer, but, the player is likely to die after using it, as it usually lands them into hazards such as pits and Nitro Crates.
With certain inputs, the properties of the slide attack may behave differently. Normally, the slide attack will cause Crash to move faster for the duration of the slide, and then he will stop and return to normal walking speed. In Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, if a player slides, but releases all directional inputs and spins before the end of the slide, Crash will retain the momentum from the slide for a longer period of time. These may be referred to as "Neutral" Slide Spins. In Crash Bandicoot: Warped, there is a similar form of glitched movement - if the player slides, lets go of all directional inputs, and then jumps before the end of the slide, Crash will retain the momentum of the slide for most of the time he is in the air. These are called "Neutral" Slide Jumps. Either of these techniques can be exploited for a substantial speed increase over Slide Jumping or Slide Spinning normally.
