The Ratcicle Kingdom (also known as the Frozen Coast) is an area of Wumpa Island, introduced in Crash: Mind Over Mutant. The area is inhabited by Ratcicles, and led by a brave Ratcicle Hero. The Ratcicle Village is found in this area, which borders the Ice Prison and Evil Public School. It is one of the most developed areas of the island, with cultures, art, and a government.
Geography[]
Located on the eastern coast of Wumpa Island, the Ratcicle Kingdom is made almost entirely of ice. The two are connected by a series of land bridges. Upon arriving for the first time, Bratgirls are seen commanding a group of NV-wearing Ratcicles to bring other mutants under control. The Ratcicles must be defeated in order to progress. In several places, the way forward is broken or blocked. Along the way, Crash encounters geysers, which must be frozen by a Ratcicle's sneeze; a T-shaped bridge that must be rotated in place via buttons; a winding wheel-like platform; and several mutants to fight.
A bastion of civilization in what is otherwise a frozen wasteland, the Ratcicle Village is built into the peak of a mountain and boasts tall, gothic architecture. It is inhabited by scrawny Ratcicles who are friendly to Crash and may offer him directions. Most of the townsfolk can be found in the lower half of the village, standing near an ice sculpture of a Ratcicle. The upper half is mostly barren, but contains two paths leading out from the village. The northeastern exit opens after Crash speaks with one of the villagers; it eventually leads to the Ice Prison. To the northwest, a second exit is blocked off by two gates which must be powered by a RhinoRoller. When opened, this path leads to the Evil Public School.
A non-hostile RhinoRoller will spawn in the village once the Wasteland is completed. If the Ratcicle Hero has been freed from the Ice Prison, it will always respawn next to the ice sculpture.
Collectibles[]
Listed by the order in which they are found:
Collectible | Location |
---|---|
![]() "Freezer Burn" doll |
On the 2D segment before the Ratcicle Kingdom, just before the first rope, there is a channel Crash can wall-jump against to reach the doll at the top. |
![]() "Crash Grab" doll |
Left of the first Freezer Burn doll, there is a series of half-pipes for which RhinoRoller is needed to cross. The doll is at the edge of the third half-pipe. |
![]() "Freezer Burn" doll |
Above the C-shaped wheel, take the metal springboards. Crash's spin-jump grants him the height needed to reach it. |
![]() Health Upgrade |
Visible towards the end of the 2D segment, but not accessible until after TK is obtained. A pair of stone blocks sit on a ridge, with the upgrade behind them. TK's Mind Grab ability must be used to move the blocks out of the way, and Crash needs to use his spin-jump to get up there. |
![]() Health Upgrade |
In the Ratcicle village, by the ice sculpture in the town square. A TK Switch rotates the sculpture, allowing Crash to grab the upgrade. |
![]() "Crash Grab" doll |
Also in the village. On the rooftop above the architect and his translator, there is a red button with an ice block on top. Pressing it causes a moving platform to activate in the village's upper half, bringing Crash to the doll. |
