Don't touch the hedgehogs when they get angry. Wait a moment.
Aku Aku, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back (NTSC-J)
Porcupines[1] (referred to as Hedgehogs in Japan) are enemies that debuted in Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back.
Appearances[]
Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back[]
Porcupines only appear in the snowy themed levels, namely Snow Go, Snow Biz and Cold Hard Crash. They only appear in the levels' 2D segments, and usually walk back and forward, pricking up their spines for defence and running if they spot Crash. They can't be hurt when their spines are up, meaning the player must wait for them to calm down to defeat them.
Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy[]
Porcupines reprise their role in the N. Sane Trilogy with no significant changes.
Behavior[]
The porcupines attack by releasing the needles out of their back and running back and forth. While the porcupines' needles are out, the player must avoid jumping on or spinning the enemy away.
There are brief moments when the Porcupine withdraws the needles from its back, allowing the player to jump on them or spin them away without getting into any harm. The player can also slide into a porcupine in order to defeat them at any time. He will not take any damage during this method, even when the porcupine's needles are out.
