Welcome to Bandipedia!

A pitch black level is a certain level where it is nothing but total darkness throughout it. The layout is the same as other normal levels, but dark. In the pitch black levels in the original Crash Bandicoot game, collecting an Aku Aku mask provides a temporary light source. In later games, the players are guided through the level using a firefly that provides light. However, the fly will go away after a short time, so players will have to move as quick as possible until the next firefly comes about. If they are not quick enough, the player will have to continue in total darkness. In Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex's level Knight Time, Coco Bandicoot will keep the firefly until the end of the level.
