The Native Village is a small human settlement found on N. Sanity Island. The village is protected by a large wooden fortress built by the locals.

The village consists of small, wooden huts, a small square in the center and a bigger hut in which the village's leader, Papu Papu, lives.


In Crash Bandicoot, the player traverses the village while riding on top of a warthog; it is unknown if the animal was brought there by the natives for farming purposes or if it was just a wild animal.

In Crash Twinsanity, the village plays a big part in the level Totem Hokum as Cortex is taken there after Papu Papu captures him. Different wooden cages can be seen just outside the village with boars inside, so it would be safe to assume that the warthog used by Crash to escape the village was a farm animal.

In Crash Twinsanity, the village is set on the outer rim of the island at the coast, near a cliff, and a big waterfall and river can also be found here. A totem pole very similar to the one in the early concept art for the first game can be seen.


  • In early design documents for the original Crash Bandicoot game, it is stated that the tribesmen inhabiting the village are the descendants of the inhabitants of the ancient continent of Lemuria, but they lost the magic and knowledge of their ancestors.
