- This page is about the alternate universe N. Tropy introduced in Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time. For her main universe counterpart, see N. Tropy.
Dr. Nefarious Tropy (a.k.a. N. Tropy) is an alternate universe female counterpart to the main universe's N. Tropy, appearing as one of the main antagonists in Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time alongside N. Tropy himself. It is stated that she comes from the same universe as Tawna Bandicoot.[1]
For the purposes of disambiguation, she is referred to as "N. Tropy (F)" in the subtitles, and "N. Tropy (Tawnaverse)" in the in-game concept art.
Appearances[]
Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time[]
Nefarious Tropy is first mentioned to be the new partner of her male counterpart after Cortex's first defeat. Together, the pair plan to reset all the timelines and to create a new universe with themselves as gods. To achieve their plan, they force Nitros Oxide to transport them with his ship, but Tawna hijacks Oxide's hovercraft and chases after them alone.
Ultimately, Tawna is defeated by both doctors, but she is saved by the arrival of Crash and Coco's party. Intrigued in their struggle, the two N. Tropys challenge their foes once again. With help from the Quantum Masks, the pair are defeated and are flung into a dimensional hole by Dingodile to prevent them from causing harm ever again.
Crash Bandicoot: On the Run![]
She appeared as the main antagonist of the second season, Running Outta Time!, as well as a limited time boss for Crash or Coco to defeat. She attacks by sending mini tornadoes swirling down the path and summoning a trio of Boom Berries hurtling towards the player and by sending a wave of energy towards the player character that must be jumped over, which sometimes carries Nitro Crates on top to be avoided. She occasionally generates a force-field around herself which must be hit with a Boom Berry to destroy it. Like all bosses, she is defeated by chasing her and throwing Boom Berries at her to reduce her health bar to zero, then using the Portal Weapons crafted beforehand to send her back to her own dimension.
Crash Team Rumble[]
N. Tropy features as a playable character in Crash Team Rumble. She is in the Blocker role, which makes an N. Tropy player's main goal blocking players on the other team from depositing Wumpa Fruit in their bank or activating gem platforms. Her moveset and stats are listed in the table below.

Characteristics[]
Physical Description[]
This version of N. Tropy has teal blue skin, with an angular and feminine face, more narrowed eyes with yellow pupils and black sclerae. In terms of clothes, she has refashioned her helmet into a bonnet. Most of her armor is black with gold lining and all of her clocks have bright green displays. She wears a tentacle-like belt that loops around her neck as well as a long blue cape. The pistons on her back are golden, and the clock on her chest bears resemblance to the one on male N. Tropy's original suit from Crash Bandicoot: Warped.
In On the Run!, her sleeves and pant legs are dark red instead of black. She also has two watches on each of her arms instead of just her left.
Personality[]

N. Tropy and her counterpart taunting Tawna.
N. Tropy is a sadistic and cruel person, claiming to have forced her universe's Tawna to watch her kill Crash and Coco. She also muses about exterminating bandicoots like pests and plucking legs off of spiders for fun. Her personality seems mainly similar to her male counterpart. She is shown, however, to genuinely care for him: for example, the two hold hands on the Dimensional Map before their boss fight is completed.
Behind-the-scenes information[]

A concept sketch of N. Tropy from The Art of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time.
As an alternate-dimension counterpart, N. Tropy's design is derivative of the original N. Tropy as designed by Naughty Dog. Toys for Bob, while designing for the original N. Tropy in Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, felt free to develop new and different takes on the character as they related to his disruption of time and space in the story.[2] At one point this included a baby version of N. Tropy piloting a mechanical suit, though this design was not used in the final game. Toys For Bob chose to create a female version of N. Tropy from another universe, as the Crash Bandicoot series had few female villains up to that point. Her concept as drawn by artist Nicholas Kole was of "a kind of goddess version of N. Tropy", with a design inspired by the Victorian horror genre.[1]
