Medieval Madness (イライラとりでの こうりゃく lit. Irritating Fortress Capture in Japanese) is the twenty-third level in the game and the third level of the fifth warp room in Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex. The level's theme is a castle and lab. Crash travels around the level via use of the atlasphere. The player needs to backtrack for some of the crates in this level.

Trivia

  • In the Xbox and GameCube versions of the game, the soundtrack for this level is the same as the music for The Gauntlet.
  • The Xbox and GameCube versions contain a couple of changes to Medieval Madness; the two big platforms just after the treacherous wooden ramps were reduced to a single one, and the elevator after the wobbling platforms moves much slower.
  • Curiously, its exclusive track is the only one that loops correctly in the PlayStation 2 version.
  • It is possible to roll the atlasphere out of bounds and continue rolling it until the player reaches an area with "losing points" (the places where the ground is made hazardous to give the illusion of Crash losing by drowning in the water).
