They appear to be robots based on piranhas with big lower jaws and sharp teeth sticking out upward from it. Screws can be seen all around the body to keep the metallic parts together. However, this could be unintentional, as the illustrator may not have noticed that it was mechanical.

A Mechanical Piranha[citation needed] is an enemy in Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back and the N. Sane Trilogy remake of the second game.

Description

They appear to be robots based on piranhas with big lower jaws and sharp teeth sticking out upward from it. Screws can be seen all around the body to keep the metallic parts together. They have really big heads, small fins and tails. In the remake, they have green eyes. They also appear in Dansu! De Jump! Na Daibouken, where they appear much more organical than in the games. However, this could be unintentional, as the illustrator may not have noticed that it was mechanical.

Behavior

They float above the water and jump regularly from one side to another of platforms, snapping their jaws while doing so. They can be defeated with any attack.
