Isabella is a character that appears in Crash Team Racing and its remake, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. She is a female bandicoot part of the Nitro Squad, responsible for handing out prizes to Crash and Coco in Crash Team Racing. She returns as a playable character in Nitro-Fueled, speaking with an Italian accent, suggesting she's from Italy.[2] Isabella is named after Isabelle Tomatis, the product manager for Sony Computer Entertainment Europe at the time of CTR's release. In Nitro-Fueled, she is a member of the Nitro Squad and has an apparent love for speed.

Appearances[]

CTR: Crash Team Racing[]

In Crash Team Racing, Isabella is one of the motorsports models seen in the game along with Ami, Liz, and Megumi, handing out trophies to the winners at the end of races. Isabella gives trophies to Crash and Coco. The epilogue of the game states that she landed a bit part in the season finale of "Bay Waters".

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled[]

Isabella was added to the game as a playable racer in the Nitro Tour Grand Prix. She is a Balanced class racer, similar to the racer she used to hand out prizes to (Crash).

Because of her playability, Isabella and the rest of the Nitro Squad no longer hand out trophies at the end of races.

Stats[]

Speed: 5/7
Accel: 5/7
Turn: 5/7
Difficulty: Intermediate
Driving Style: Balanced

Other apperances[]

Isabella is referenced exclusively in the Japanese version of Crash Bash. In Coco's epilogue, she is shown creating a hologram of herself as an adult in order to become a virtual idol - this hologram is shown wearing Isabella's outfit, however Crash ends up mistaking it for Tawna.

Characteristics[]

Physical description[]

Isabella has blonde hair and a blonde tail, blue eyes with pink eye shadow, orange fur and a peach muzzle. Her outfit consists of a royal blue and white jumpsuit and black sneakers with white soles and laces. The letters "CTR" are printed sideways in blue on her right thigh. She is often seen carrying a blue umbrella with a white circle in the center.

In Nitro-Fueled, Isabella is redesigned to bear less resemblance to Tawna; her figure is more svelte, her hair is shorter and is now more styled on the right, she has a beauty mark on her left cheek, she now wears light blue eyeshadow and part of her tail is now orange like her fur. As for her outfit, her jumpsuit is now a lighter blue and her sneakers are now navy blue.

Personality[]

Although little of her personality is explored, Isabella appears to be the most mellow of the Nitro Squad members. In spite of this, however, Isabella also appears to be the one who takes losing the worst, as she will physically throw a tantrum upon missing out on the top step of the victory podium.

It's suggested that she may have a much deeper appreciation for the craft and machinery in the karts and is very protective of her own, especially during races.

Behind-the-scenes information[]

Trivia[]

  • In the Japanese version of Crash Team Racing, her textures are edited to have brown eyes instead of blue to avoid confusion between her and Tawna. Despite this, she still has blue eyes on her Japanese promotional artwork.
  • In the Italian version of Nitro-Fueled, she has a Spanish accent instead of her original Italian.
