The Velo mask[1] is a floating tiki mask similar to Aku Aku, Uka Uka and the Elementals in appearance, although it's unknown if he is related to any of them. The Velo mask appears in Crash Nitro Kart, where it protects Emperor Velo XXVII and all of his henchmen.
During races, it protects the members of both Team Oxide (Velo, Zam, Zem, and Nitros Oxide) and Team Trance (N. Trance and the brainwashed Dingodile, Polar and Pura) when the player gets a mask power-up. Rather than a chant like Aku Aku or Uka Uka, the sound of Velo's laughter is heard when this mask is activated. The Velo mask also protects the Champions so that they cannot fall victim to their own weapons.
The Velo mask does not exist in the handheld version, with every character that uses it in the console version instead using Uka Uka, excluding Polar who uses Aku Aku. The mask returned in a later patch for Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, now using Real Velo's high-pitched laugh instead of Fake Velo's. It protects Real Velo and Emperor Velo, Nitros Oxide, Zam, Zem, the Champions, N.Trance, King Chicken and the Iron Checkpoint Crate.
