Scrubbers are small cleaning robot enemies, appearing in a handful of games in the Crash series.
Overview[]
Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back[]
Scrubbers debut in Cortex Strikes Back. Their behaviour varies depending on their location; they may circle the inside of pipes, chase each other in circles, or charge at Crash in a group, single-file. Certain scrubbers, when positioned correctly, can be used to destroy the blades of fans that block the tunnel. They can be defeated using any attack and appear in all three sewer levels; The Eel Deal, Sewer or Later and Hangin' Out.
Crash Bandicoot: The Huge Adventure[]
Scrubbers appear as enemies in the sewer levels of Huge Adventure. Their behaviour is much simpler than in Cortex Strikes Back given that the game is in 2D, simply moving back and forth in a straight line. They can be found in Just in Slime, Just Hangin' and Drip, Drip, Drip.
Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy[]
Scrubbers reprise their role in the N. Sane Trilogy remake of Cortex Strikes Back, with no significant changes to note.
Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled[]
Scrubbers appear as stage hazards on the course Android Alley, replacing the Cleaning Bots that were present there in the original Crash Nitro Kart version of the course. They simply move back and forth across the road in a straight line, making racers spin out if they collide with it.
Crash Bandicoot: On the Run![]
Scrubbers next appear in On the Run!, in the level Sewer or Later. They move back and forth, either across the path or a short distance up and down it. They are like more tools than enemies, as they are usually positioned in such a way that spinning or sliding them will send them flying into TNT or Nitro crates, detonating them and clearing the way or breaking item crates. They also generate a burst of electricity when hit, which can activate or deactivate any electric pads on the ground that they come into contact with. In any case, they will still harm the player if they come into contact without attacking.
Physical Appearance[]
The machines are generally red-brown and white in color with large eyes and an antenna coming out the top. They have an N emblazoned on their front suggesting they were made by Cortex to clean up the sewers and have brushes on the bottom to clean up messes, just like vacuums.
